Or stop being a Delaware LLC

Registering in Illinois is one answer. The other is to move the LLC to Illinois, ending its formation-state registration in Delaware, a filing called domestication. The same LLC continues. A move alone normally does not require a new EIN. Check with your bank and review contracts for any notice or consent requirements.

Move the LLC to Illinois
$200/year
Keeping both states costs $525 more a year: two annual filings and two registered agents instead of one. Figures are state recurring charges plus one Northwest registered agent per state at $125 a year. The move filings are $220 to leave Delaware and $250 to arrive in Illinois ($100 for the filing plus $150 for its articles of organization), before any service fee. Worth doing only if you no longer need registration in Delaware. Outstanding taxes and exit-year charges still need to be settled.
